FACULTY INFRASTRUCTURE COURSE-CURRICULUM

 

 

Department of Electronics is one of the oldest departments of this university, established right back in July, 1983. The department through its commendable services has matched up to the 5 star status accorded to the University by National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC). The department has its distinguished by its alumni spread all over the world. Equipped with the most advanced labs, this institution cultivates young minds & provides them the appropriate launching pads to grow and excel in the technical world. The department offers Bachelor of Technology (Electronics & Communications) and Masters of Technology (Electronics & Communication). Selection procedure for the Bachelors of Technology (Electronics & Communication) is based on Common Entrance Test (CET, Punjab) conducted on All- India basis. Apart from academics, the department outshines other departments in inter-departmental cultural and sports competitions. It is worth mentioning here that the department bagged the Interdepartmental Sports Trophy for the consecutive five years.

The department has the following well equipped laboratories:

 

1. Electronics Lab. : The lab is equipped with sophisticated testing, designing & measuring instruments like VTVM,DMM-100 MH3 high resolution CROs, digital function generator & counter etc.

2. Microwave Lab. : The laboratory has good microwave bench to train students in the field of microwave engineering. Apart from other equipments, Gunn-oscillators & Klystron-oscillators are available for practicals.

3. Microprocessor Lab. : The department has a well equipped microprocessor lab having sufficient number of 8085, 8086, Z-80, VM-85/9 kits. In addition to this, there are microcontroller kits, microtraining kits & EPROM programmer.
4. Communication Lab. : There are AM, FM, PSK, FSK, PPM, PWM, PAM & QPSK kits available for practicals.
5. Computer Lab. : The computer lab of department has various P-III, celeron based PCs running on Linux and Windows. They all are equipped with multimedia kits. There is a well connectivity of all the terminals in the department through LAN & Internet.

6. TV Lab. : Wide range of receivers and transmitters are available for practical purposes. TV Tutors are also present.
7. Industrial Electronics & Machine Lab.: The Industrial Electronics & Machine Lab has a wide range of thyristor kits like AC-DC load SCR kits, UJT kits.
8. PCB Lab.: Sophisticated PCB development system is available for making high quality printed circuit boards. Photo etching & camera reduction techniques are also present. microcontroller kits, microtraining kits & EPROM programmer.

9. Fiber Optics Lab. : The lab has highly sophisticated equipment for optical fiber study, which include BER (COM) Benchtop Instrument, ED-COM Benchtop Instrument and 2 Channel WDM Kit by OPTOSCI, UK. The latest addition in equipment is WDM kit with 25 KM SMF link in accordance with ITU WDM grid.

10. DSP Lab. The lab has a fully equipped computerized system and advanced microkits like TMS320C25 & TMS320C50 for conducting the requisite practices of final year students.

11.Networks Lab: The lab is equipped with latest Encryption study kits.

A committee constituted by the students of the department. ESF in the department performs the various technical activities like �.

  • Organized a one day seminar on �Recent Trends in Electronics & Communications.�
