The Department of Zoology was established in 1990 when the School of Life Sciences split into five different streams. Since its inception, the Department has been offering courses leading to the award of degrees of M.Sc. (Hons.), M. Phil and Ph.D programs. The Department has six regular faculty members who have specialized in different fields viz. Entomology, Aquatic Biology, Fish toxicology, Nematology and Cytogenetics. At present the Department has 3 major and 2 minor project funded by U.G.C., New Delhi and P.S.C.S.T., Chandigarh. Also, the Department is covered under DRS and FIST programme of UGC and DST.
